The initiative involves working with stakeholders to design a strategic careers leadership development programme specifically aimed at improving pathway planning for rangatahi at the secondary school level. The pilot will bring principals and careers staff together to work on their schools strategy and implementation plan around careers and pathway transitioning, to ensure more effective and equitable opportunities for rangatahi.
Building on the findings of EPIT’s commissioned research titled: Empowering Our Youth, which highlighted a need for more strategic level career and pathway transition planning within schools, this intiative activates a key research finding. Research findings showed that while responsibility for this is mostly shouldered by school leaders, the accountability often rests solely with careers staff in schools, with a disconnect between the two.
Springboard Trust exists to build strategic leadership capacity and capability of leaders in education. They do this by building high trust environments to create the conditions where leaders do their best self-reflection and learning.
[Careers] needs a whole of school approach, embedded in all curriculum areas with a vision of preparing all students for leaving school at whichever year level that may be (not all students leave at Yr 13!)
Springboard Trust is an organisation working within the education sector to transform schools through effective leadership, believing that great leaders make great schools. Underpinning this work is a cross-sector model which gives principals the building blocks of strategic leadership and a toolkit of resources to lead their schools.
