This initiative will focus on communities that are most affected by the digital divide and will enable 25 high equity index and remote schools to be part of a fully funded two-year programme that will get them started on their SchoolTalk journey. This will include:

  • Digital access for students and whānau.
  • Professional development for teachers to augment their practice and fully utilise the digital capability to accelerate learner progress.

The drive behind this initiative

SchoolTalk’s learning management system makes learning visible to teachers, students and whānau and allows for collective decision making. Currently there are schools who are not able to access the technology or training to use this effectively for student learning.  The aim is to address this digital divide with digital access and wrap around training.

Approach to change

Te Kete Hono uses a theory of improvement to guide their work. This is based on a continuous cycle of teaching, learning, and assessment supported by diagnostic tools, data and analytics, alongside collaboration and professional learning.

Impact for Equity

  • Learners accessing equitable digitally enhanced learning.
  • Teachers are increasing their knowledge of digital technology and using this to positively impact learning.
  • An increase in the engagement between learners, whānau and schools about learning and progress.

The Stonefields Collaborative Trust was established in 2016 as a catalyst for educational improvement. The Trust believes that improving learning outcomes across Aotearoa | New Zealand requires growing capacity and learning from one another. The creation of digital tools for learning and assessment has been made possible by the vision, leadership and oversight of the Stonefields Collaborative Trust, and developed and delivered by their social impact arm, Te Kete Hono.
